BYLAWS
As amended January 22, 2008
Article I ORGANIZATION
Section 1. Purpose
A. To raise the standards of beekeeping.
B. To bring into closer relations all persons interested in beekeeping.
C. To stimulate, as far as possible, any activity pertaining to beekeeping.
Section 2. Name
The name of the organization shall be The Bristol County Beekeepers Association. (BrCBA)
Section 3. Affiliation
The Bristol County Beekeepers Association, by vote of the Members, may affiliate with other organizations with similar aims and purposes, and may pay any dues thereto.
Article II ADMINISTRATION
Section 1. Officers
A. The Officers of this Association shall be a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary and a Treasurer.
B. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association and shall supervise the affairs of the same.
C. The Vice-President shall assist the President in his duties and assume the place and duties of the President in his absence.
D. The Secretary shall record the minutes of meetings, send out notices, handle all correspondence and handle other duties as directed by the President.
E. The Treasurer shall handle all finances of the Association, collect dues, pay bills as approved by the Executive Committee or membership, prepare and present a financial statement at each meeting. In addition the Treasurer shall render an audited account of the year’s finances annually.
F. In absence of the Treasurer, the President is authorized to sign checks and make financial transactions on behalf of the club, as duties require. The President, Treasurer or Executive Committee is authorized to spend up to $100 (one hundred dollars) as discretionary spending.
G. If an Officer misses three (3) consecutive meetings, without a valid reason, in the judgment of the Executive Committee, said Officer is to lose their Office. Consecutive meetings shall be defined as any combination of Regular Meetings or Executive Committee meetings. Filling of position will be in accordance with bylaws.
Section 2. Executive Committee
A. The President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and a minimum of two to a maximum of five Committee Members nominated by the members and elected at the Biennial Meeting (totaling a minimum of six to a maximum of nine) shall constitute an Executive Committee. The duty of this committee shall be to plan new programs and recommend the establishment of working committees to assist in the development and expansion of the club and assist in the resolution of problems.
B. Executive Committee shall hold bimonthly meetings, or at the discretion of the President.
C. Executive Committee shall be empowered to recommend an appointment to fill a vacancy arising in the Committee (officers or members) to be approved at the following Regular Club meeting by the membership.
D. If a Committee Member misses three (3) consecutive meetings, without a valid reason, in the judgment of the Executive Committee, said Committee Member is to lose their Office. Consecutive meetings shall be defined as any combination of Regular Meetings or Executive Committee meetings. Filling of position will be in accordance with bylaws.
Section 3 Elections
A. Biennially, at the October meeting, a Nominating Committee shall be chosen consisting of five members. Three members of this committee shall be appointed by the President and two nominated from the floor. The duty of this committee shall be to submit a list of officers for the coming term. Additional nominations may be made from the floor.
B. The President at the October meeting shall also appoint a committee composed of three members to audit the books prior to the November meeting.
Article III BIENNIAL MEETING
Section 1. Date
The Biennial Meeting shall be held during the month of January at which time all business shall be completed, and reports of Officers and Committees received, following which the Officers and the members of the Executive Committee. shall be elected.
Section 2. Quorum
At the Biennial Meeting ten (10) dues-paying Members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of all business. If a quorum is not present such elections shall be held at the next meeting at which a quorum of ten (10) Members is present.
Article IV REGUAR MEETINGS
Section 1. Date
The Association shall meet monthly indoors from September through May, preferably the fourth Tuesday of each month and out-of-doors at field meetings during the months of June through August. This may be changed by the decision of the President due to weather conditions and program scheduling. The indoor meetings to start promptly at 7:00 P.M.; field meetings to be held on the third or fourth Sunday of each month, with the discretion being left to the host. Workshop is to precede the social. Workshop duration/end time is to be established and communicated to the host. This is to ensure ample time for workshop discussion and also provides a firm time for the host to plan any meal preparations around.
Section 2. Conduct of Meetings.
A. It shall be the duty of the President or Vice-President, presiding at meetings, to conduct same in a dignified, orderly manner.
B. Any subject having the welfare of this Association and the beekeeping industry as its object shall be allowable.
C. Members shall be limited to three minutes to express their respective opinions.

Section 4. Quorum
A quorum at a regular meeting shall constitute ten (10) members.
Section 5. Soliciting
- No soliciting of bee supplies or services shall occur during the Regular Meeting or the night’s Presentation or Topic of Discussion.
- Club members may advertise in the Club newsletter for free. The fee for non-members is ten dollars ($10) per month per ad or fifty dollars ($50) per 12 months per ad. It is incumbent on the seller to design and provide the advertisement in a workable and acceptable format for inclusion into the newsletter.
Article V DUES
A. The dues for membership shall be $15 (fifteen dollars) for each calendar year or portion thereof, payable in January. November, December, and January meeting notices shall include notice of dues payable. The January notice will be final notice of delinquent dues. No further meeting notices will be sent. If dues are not received by February 1, that member will be dropped from the membership list.
B. A former member may be reinstated upon the payment of (1) (one) year dues.
Article VI MEMBERSHIP
A. Any person or persons interested in any phase of apiculture may become members of this Association.
B. Where one member of a family makes due application for membership that person’s Wife, Husband, Son or Daughter may also be considered a member and entitled to all benefits of membership.
C. Each entity, whether it be one person or many, which pays dues for membership is entitled to (1) (one) vote per membership.
Article VII REVIEW of BYLAWS
These bylaws are to be reviewed every (2) (two) years minimum.
Article VIII AMENDMENTS
This Constitution and. By-laws may be amended in any way by a two-thirds vote of the Members at any Meeting at which a quorum is present. The proposed Amendments will accompany the monthly notice and will be voted on at that monthly meeting.
